Despite most reviews panning the film, Race 3 is likely to continue the momentum over the weekend.
For a while now, Eid has belonged to Salman with some of his biggest recent hits releasing around this time of the year. However, Race 3, which released on around 4200 cinemas in India, saw a lukewarm response on Friday. In most of India, the festival of Eid is being celebrated on Saturday and hence, footfall was expected to go up on the day of the festival.
As per a report in Bollywood Hungama, the occupancy for Race 3 on the opening day was close to 50% for the initial shows. This was expected to dent the producers’ plan to have an Rs 30-35 crore opening day collection.
However, all of this was proven wrong. While the film did not touch the magic figure stated above, it has come really close, proving Salman’s pull at the box office.
Also starring Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez, Daisy Shah and Saqib Saleem in important roles, Race 3 is the third film in Race franchise and hit theatres on June 15. While the previous two films were directed by Abbas-Mustan, Remo D’Souza has helmed the latest flick.
