How the United States of America elects it’s President : The President election of America comes round every four years. There is a lot of enthusiasm about it around the world. Because the President of America has a big impact on how the world reacts to it’s global challenges. For example, wars, unexpected pandemics, economic crises and climate changes. It is generally the first Tuesday which comes after the first Monday .Only two major political parties are in the race to president election. As a conservative party the Republican party is one of them .On the other hand, The Democratic Party, is a liberal party.

There are five steps involved in the election process of the US President. It approximately takes 9 to 10 months to complete the whole process. It generally starts in February/March. Subsequently, General Voting in November and Electoral Voting in December. Finally, ends with the inauguration process in January.

Primaries and Caucuses
In order to chose the nominee for the post of the USA President. The Political parties organize primaries and caucuses in different states. Further these delegates will go on to support nominee for President of America. To chose the delegates, some states hold a secret ballot means Primaries.
However, Some states use caucuses. Which means by showing hands in an open meeting to elect the delegate.
National Convention
It is a large gathering of delegates. Which consists of those who are elected during the first step from the Primaries and Caucuses .Based on the majority gained in this convention. Then the party announces who is going to join the race for the Presidential elections. Besides this, the Vice President nominee also chosen by voting at this convention. As soon as announcing the nominees for both Presidential and Vice Presidential from the party. The campaigning, rallies and television debates begin.
General Election
In the General Election every US Citizen who is at least the age of 18 years are allowed to vote. The voters can chose the electors for electorate College. Even though, a candidate who wins the highest votes on Elections Day(i.e in November).In fact, it not a confirmation for Presidential post. Instead of this there are two steps involved in voting for President of US.
Initially on voters day in November the voter cast their votes in every state. The Person who gets the highest votes in this direct election. As a consequence of that the candidate wins the electoral votes. By means From the “Electorate college” for that particular state. Eventually, The electors from 50 states gather in December. To vote for both President and Vice President.
As a result of this, the contestant who gets majority votes from the “Electorate college”. They becomes the President of America. It case no candidate gets the required majority. Then House of Representatives can chooses the most eligible candidate for the Presidency. Meanwhile, The Senate can chooses the Vice President.

Electoral college
The Electoral college is a collective group of elective local leaders. Which consists the 538 electoral votes. The voters directly elects these candidates in November month, during voters day. The state which gets how many electoral votes depends on its population. Each state has two votes for its two US Senators and one more extra vote for every member it has in the House of Representatives.
In December the electors have to vote twice to elect President as well Vice President. Finally, The Candidate who gets the simple majority of 270 or more votes in the Electoral College should win the Presidential election.
Most importantly We should note that even though, a party winning maximum states or popular vote. There might be a chance to lose in Electoral College. For instance, it happened in 2016 Presidential Elections of the USA.
Inauguration
Of course, The US Congress counts the votes of Electoral College as it’s constitutional duty. Then after, the Vice President, as he is the President of Senate officially declares the winner. The new President takes oath on January 20,this process is called as Inauguration.
